Awareness on Stem Cell Donation
The DKMS-BMST Foundation India conducted an impactful workshop on the registry of potential stem cell donors at NMIMS Mumbai, in collaboration with the SRF committee. The event was conducted on the college premises, marked SRF's inaugural event for the year and saw participation from 41 enthusiastic students from SBM NMIMS. The workshop was organized by 10 dedicated SRF Senior and Junior committee members.
Key representatives from DKMS BMST Foundation India, including Ms Anjali, Ms Reshma Ghosh, Ms Nandini Sarkar, Ms Khushi Lahoti, and Mr Ayush Singh, led the session. They provided comprehensive insights into the stem cell donation process, emphasizing its significance in saving lives. The workshop covered the detailed steps involved in stem cell donation, debunked myths and misconceptions, and highlighted the urgent need to increase awareness and ethnic diversity in the stem cell donor registry.
The students were highly engaged, asking numerous questions that were thoughtfully addressed by the speakers. The session concluded with a call to action for individuals to register as potential stem cell donors. Many students enthusiastically registered, feeling both overwhelmed and informed by the valuable knowledge shared. This awareness session on stem cell donation aimed to promote healthy lives and well-being for all at all ages.
